And what a can of worms that is. As a writer who has recently self-published for the first time AND a reader/reviewer (I don’t consider myself a “book blogger”) I honestly can’t think of anything to add that wouldn’t insult someone. So I’ll just sit here with my head in my hands, trying to figure out how to pick my way through this minefield I’ve gotten myself into 🙂
That being said, thanks for entering the fray. The more these matters can be argued out (by someone who’s not me) the closer we’ll get to a working arrangement. It’s becoming clear to me that the traditional publishing world has worked because its internal rules and etiquette were bashed out long ago; now we have to do the same for self-publishing.
Thank you, Jane! I think you’re so right–traditional publishing and traditional media figured out how to best work together many moons ago…we’re but newcomers, relatively speaking!
